Former warlord in Ituri, MP Floribert Ndjabu calls on Thomas Lubanga to find a peaceful outcome to his demands
Floribert Ndjabu is a former warlord in Ituri. Convicted by the national justice system following his deportation from the Netherlands, where he had sought political asylum after appearing as a witness in the Mathieu Ngudjolo case at the International Criminal Court-ICC. He returned to Ituri to seek peace after serving his sentence in Kinshasa. Alongside Thomas Lubanga (the first ICC convict) on an official Congolese government mission raising awareness among armed groups to abandon the war, they were kidnapped in 2022 by the CODECO militia before escaping. In the last legislative elections, he was elected as a national MP, as was Thomas Lubanga, whose provincial legislative mandate was invalidated by the Congolese courts, which are authorised to certify the results of the electoral commission. Since then; Lubanga has secluded himself in Kampala, capital of Uganda, from where he launched a new rebellion: the Convention for the People's Revolution-CRP.
